What does a class day look like in Silver Creek Area CEO?

Well… we are pretty busy.

Two weeks into the school year, our students are already learning that CEO is about much more than showing up for a guest speaker or business visit.

In just the last couple of days, they’ve been making phone calls to business owners to finalize details for next week’s visits, writing thank-you notes, reviewing journal expectations and deadlines, learning how to navigate our CEO Canva and understanding the importance of staying within our branding guidelines. And in between all of that, they’ve been brainstorming, collaborating and working through the details of our first business venture.

And the questions have been coming fast.

How do we raise capital while providing our investors with something worthwhile? How do we promote the Silver Creek Area CEO brand? Why would a business want to invest in us? How do we approach a business owner and pitch our business proposition in a professional manner?

These aren’t hypothetical questions. They are questions our 17- and 18-year-old students are being challenged to answer.

That’s the beauty of CEO.

We intentionally throw our students into real-world situations and let them begin developing an entrepreneurial mindset. They have to communicate, collaborate, make decisions, solve problems and sometimes figure things out without having all the answers handed to them.

It’s not always easy. But they are working hard. They are asking questions. They are learning to think differently.

And I have so much confidence in this group.

We are only two weeks in, and there is already so much happening. I hope you’ll follow our journey this year. Get to know these students. Watch them grow, take risks, gain confidence and discover what they are capable of.

This is just the beginning, and there is SO much more in store.
