Part 2 of 2: The Message That Stuck
While the space and the views were unforgettable, the real impact of the day came from our time with Becky Bertram.
Becky—founder of Savvy Technical Solutions, Microsoft MVP, and one of our Silver Creek Area CEO mentors—shared her journey with the students, from her early days in consulting in 1999 to launching her own business in 2012. But more than the timeline, it was her honesty that resonated.
She challenged the students to see the unknown not as something to fear, but as something to embrace. In a world that’s constantly changing, she reminded them that uncertainty can actually be a gift.
She talked about what it really takes to run a business. No one is standing over your shoulder. No one is making sure the work gets done. It’s on you. Every deadline. Every decision. Every standard.
Her message on integrity hit just as hard—do what you say you’re going to do, be honest about what you can deliver, and hold yourself accountable, even when no one else is watching.
She also pushed them to think differently about growth. Start small. Build relationships. Find the right partners. Success doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens through connection.
And in true Becky fashion, she didn’t just tell them…she showed them. From the co-working space to the conversations, she gave them a glimpse into what the modern workplace can look like and what’s possible beyond what they see every day.
The students were locked in. Asking questions. Making connections. Taking it all in.
It was the kind of conversation that sticks with you.
Becky, thank you for making this last site visit of the year so special for our program! Thank you for investing in our students, for sharing your story, and for being someone they can relate to and learn from. We are incredibly grateful.
