Intentional Acts of Kindness — #17
Giving Comfort, Gratitude, and Time

Our 17th Intentional Act of Kindness comes from Sadeem Alqadi, a senior at O’Fallon Township High School.

Sadeem’s story is rooted in connection and service. Having lived in California, Palestine, and Illinois, and as a twin and older sister to five siblings, she has grown up valuing family, community, and responsibility. She is deeply involved at school and beyond—has served in leadership roles in FBLA and Threads Club, competing on academic teams, and volunteering for several years teaching Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Belleville Masjid. These experiences have shaped not only who she is, but how she gives back.

For her act of kindness, Sadeem visited a hospital and brought flowers to nurses and elderly patients, spending time with those who were willing to visit. While photos were taken with staff, patient privacy was respected—something that speaks to the care and thoughtfulness behind her actions.

Sadeem shared that this act was inspired by gratitude. When her grandmother was hospitalized for back pain, the staff took wonderful care of her. Knowing that many elderly patients don’t always have family visiting them, Sadeem wanted to offer comfort, conversation, and kindness—especially to those who may feel forgotten.

She described this experience as meaningful because it allowed her to give back to the generation before her and to show care to people who may not have anyone else advocating for them in that moment.

Sadeem’s act reminds us that kindness is often about presence—showing up, expressing gratitude, and choosing to care deeply for others. We are incredibly proud of her compassion, intention, and heart for service. ❤️
