Intentional Acts of Kindness — #16
Sometimes the Most Meaningful Gift Is Time

Our 16th Act of Kindness comes from Grady Yoder, a senior at Mascoutah High School.

Grady is someone who brings energy and effort into everything he does. Whether it’s football, basketball, Student Council, FBLA, NHS, or mentoring younger students, he leads by example and pushes those around him to be their best. He’s hardworking, driven, and intentional—qualities that show not only in the classroom and on the field, but also in how he shows up for the people he loves.

For his act of kindness, Grady chose something beautifully simple: time. He took his grandpa out to lunch and then to shoot pool—something his grandpa has always loved and is especially good at.

Grady shared that he realized he doesn’t spend as much quality time with his grandpa as he’d like, and he wanted to change that. There was no grand gesture or big production—just a meal, a game of pool, and meaningful conversation. But sometimes, those are the moments that matter most.

This act is a reminder that kindness doesn’t have to be complicated. Showing up, slowing down, and choosing to be present can mean more than we ever realize—especially to those who’ve spent a lifetime showing up for us.

We’re so proud of Grady for choosing connection, intention, and time well spent. ❤️
